Valencia Club de Fútbol or simply Valencia FC is Spanish football club playing in La Liga, the equivalent of the UK’s Premiership. The club started in 1919 and has been kicking off at the Mestella Stadium since 1923! Valencia play at the very topflight of football and are one of the biggest clubs in the world, winning the Spanish league title six times and a combined six UEFA cups. They have produced some of the world’s top players including Javier Farinos, Vicente Rodríguez and David Albelda, Vicente Rodríguez.
The club has had something of a turbulent history. Through the 1960’s, ’70’s and ’80’s they had great success in Europe, winning the forerunner of the UEFA cup, reaching the final stages of the European Cup, and winning the European Cup Winner Cup, but they started to decline in the mid ’80’s. They re-emerged stronger in the 1900’s and 2000’s reaching the very top of international football. After financial difficulties in the 2010’s they were taken privately by Peter Lim, and Singaporean businessman, which saw something of a decline and further turbulence with six different sporting directors and managers by 2020. They play in white football shirts and black shorts.
