Manu Tuilagi is a professional rugby player who currently plays centre for the Sale Sharks.  He represents the England International rugby team and has also represented the Lions.  Tuilagi was born in 1991 in Samoa.  He lived there until he was 12 when he emigrated to England.  He because a British citizen in 2014 and qualifies to play for England through his UK residency.

He was named Manusamoa after the Samoan national rugby team. Manu was born the same year his elder brother played for Samoa at the Rugby World Cup in 1991.  He is the youngest of six boys in the family, all of whom have played for Samoa.  Manu moved to the UK to be with his brothers and played initially with Rumney RFC, whilst his brothers were playing for the Cardiff Blues.

Tuilagi moved to Leicester when he was 15 to play for the Leicester Tigers Academy.  He played for the senior’s side for the first time in 2010-11 season, playing the majority of the games.  It was an impressive first season for Manu,

Manu Tuilagi had the option to represent Samoa or England international rugby teams.  He opted to play for England, having grown up there and where he played most of his rugby.  Manu made his full England debut against Wales at Twickenham in 2011, scoring an excellent try.  He was a regular starter for England at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

His strong performances for both Leicester and England earnt him a call up for the Lions squad in 2013.  He played a number of games during the tour in Australia.  Manu Tuilagi returned to the England team in 2016 and featured in the Six Nations Championship.  An important player for England, he has scored 18 international tries to date.  He has scored at a number of key tournaments, including the 2011 and 2019 Rugby World Cups.  Manu has also scored at five different Six Nation tournaments.

Following a succession of strong performances for Leicester Tigers, Tuilagi agreed to join the Sale Sharks in July 2020.
