English football favourites and Premier League giants Liverpool FC have long been hailed as one of the nation’s greatest and most prolific clubs. Their trophy cabinet is crammed with the spoils of multiple triumphs over the years, including 3 UEFA Cups, 19 League Titles, 9 League Cups and 8 FA Cups. They have also won 6 European Cups, three UEFA Cups and four UEFA Super Cups – more than any other English club. Their heyday was in the ’70s and ’80s under Scottish manager and legend, Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and player-manager Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool FC was founded in 1892. They’ve played at their iconic ground Anfield since their inception. Managers and players responsible for Liverpool’s success over the years include Liverpool signed Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain, and talent from further afield including Luis Suarez and Mario Balotelli. In recent years players such as Mo Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana have brought further glory to add to the club’s illustrious history.

Jurgen Klopp took over from Brendon Rodgers in 2015, after the former manager lead them to success in the 2013/14 season, scoring 101 goals, the most the club had racked up since 1896! During Kopp’s first season the club reached second place after losing just one game. They beat Tottenham in the 2019 UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League in 2020 setting multiple records in the process. This included winning the season with 7 games. They finished with 99 points and 32 wins.

In 2021 the club became the fifth most valuable club in the world when Forbes put them at a$4.1b. In teh 2022/23 season they finished 5th in the Premiership, narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League for the first time in seven years

Liverpool Shirts

Liverpool started out playing in sky blue and white in 1892, a colour that would later be adopted by one of their fiercest rivals! The iconic red coloured jersey was adopted just four years later in 1896 and has undergone a few changes over the years.

Sponsorship started in 1973 with Umbro who not only made the shirts but had their logo on the right breast opposite the club logo. The practice of featuring a company sponsor on the front of the shirt started in the 1980 season with electrical manufacturers Hitachi with companies such as Crown Paints, Candy and Carlsberg adorning the front of the shirts. Current incumbent Standard Chartered signed Liverpool in the 2010 season and have been sponsoring the club for the past 22 years, and their distinctive banking logo can be seen on the all of the jerseys worn by the club.
